ABOUT
US
ALTRANS
was founded in 1991 as a student project at San Jose State University to
help other students explore commute alternatives.
The project soon evolved into a public/private Transportation Management
Association (TMA) with service centers at seven South Bay Colleges: San
Jose State University, West Valley/Mission colleges, San Jose City/Evergreen
Valley colleges, and Foothill/DeAnza colleges.
ALTRANS
has expanded their services to include elementary and secondary schools
in Saratoga, Cupertino, Los Altos and San Jose. This award-winning K-12
Trip Reduction Program continues to be implemented in schools throughout
the Bay Area.
In
2001, ALTRANS
added an Employer Transportation Demand Management (TDM) division, which
includes the assessment; development and implementation of employee commute
programs.
ALTRANS
utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to develop an
interactive web site where clients can receive immediate information for
commute alternatives that are available to them for their commute to work,
school and home.
